mise en scene
the last time we filmed we got our mise en scene just about right, this time we are going to either move the big mirror or change the room as after the filming we suddenly found out that the mirror was relfecting as was showing us, we didnt realsie this until it was too late and we had filmed it all, we are re-filming this weekend so i have gone to the shop and got another cake for us to use. hopfuly this time we have abit more sucess than last time.
Second Attempt
We filmed our advert a couple of sundays ago but unfortunataley it wasn't quite right and after watching it back and talking through it with miss sutton we decided there wasn't enough variety in the shots we had taken so we have decided to re-film this sunday. We have analysed what we did wrong and what needs to be improved aswell as adding some more ideas. We're just looking at our 1st attempt as a draft.

posters
when we where looking for poster, i dercided to look at more than just cameras to see what else we could possible do. so we looked at other things such as ipods, phones, more camera, cd's and dvd's.
we looked at this phone idea and liked it. what we like about this image/advert is the use of colour and the way the colours make the phone look more deserable. i think that these colours work well with the phone as it makes the phone stand out more, and draws your attension to then phone.
the sony psp slim advert uses got use of colour as it makes the sony psp stand out from the background because the psp is white and the background is colourful. Also the pictures stand out also because they are in black.
another sony product, this time it is another phone, i think that the use of a strong purple is what attracted me to this poster, i like the purple as it is a bold colour and gets your attention. also the white and pink/purle lines that go around the phone breaks up the image, as it draws our attension to the phone. i would like to use this background colour is our poste but it may not look as good as this.
another sony phone, i like the way the colours are used to make the phone stand out. the colours they use in all of their posters are bright, vibient colours that make the posters stand out.

Poster Plan 1
We are going to edit this photo and use at as one of posters, however instead of the model having the camera in his hands he is going to have a still image from our advert to create the image that with just one camera you can be holding the 'whole world in your hands' (PSP poster slogan). At the bottom of the image there will be all the small print, terms & conditions etc. we will also have a slogan at the bottom (of which still needs to decided) We have seen something similar to this in a PSP poster but instead of a still image they are holding cartoons etc. that belong in the gaming world, we thought this looked effective and gave us much inspiration. Actual camera posters were difficult to find.
This poster looks really creative we would like to create something similar however it will differ in the respect that our model will have a family in there hands rather than images from the gaming world. This will not only create you could be holding the whole world in oyur hands but you can carry and take it anywhere. Our poster will also contain a little more detail (the small print) aswell select imprtant details about the camera.
We need to consider what colours will look most effective on our poster, not only this but they will need to co-ordiante with the image in hand and stick to the three 3 colour pallete.

Risk assessment
risks we may come across when filming in the dining room at home are:
-Tripping hazards, Wires
-Dining table collapsing
-Birthday candles, causing a fire
-Rabbits crew throught the wires
-Little brother pulls the camera over
-Spillage of drinks on wires
all of the above are possible risks that we need to make sure these dont happen. we will try to take these into consideration when filming. we need to be careful around the camera as we dont want to brake it or damage it.

Radio Advert
We recorded our radio advert and after editing and trying it out with different samples of backing music, we have decicded to re record it using a differerent actor as the voice wasn't quite what we where looking for, though it was good it wasn't upbeat enough and we tried several times with the actor however it just didn't work. The advert needs to be really enthusiastic to go along with the image we want to portray through our camera advert.

radio adverts
After looking at a couple of adverts we found that they all lasted around 30 seconds, For the first 20 seconds you have someone describing the product or place and then the last 10 seconds is the rushed bit where they explain what the product or place is and the terms and conditions. It is going to be difficult to do a radio advert on a camera as a camera is something you take pictures with and a radio is something you listen to, however like the hagendaaz advert that is something you eat, i think it would be a good idea to hear someone using the camera with them exagerating features for example 'WOW it has 4x internal zoom' then for the last part of the advert we'll have a brief description of the camera.
Filming
Setting: Family dining room, the reason behind filming it in this room is because the dining room is one of the main places in the house beside the lounge where the whole family come together and the meaning we want to try and portray with our camera advert is that you take pictures of special events where the family are together so therefor bringing you closer.
Cast: (After Tuesday we will have headshots of the following)
Mum-Samantha Barnett; Mum is going to be dressed in jeans and a round neck tshirt, nothing revealing going on her roll, we want to portray her as your average mum who isn't set out to impress anyone because she is happily married with children.
Dad- Jason Barnett; Dad will be dressed in jeans and shirt, casual, smart dress to give the image that he is the most important member of the family, the provider.
Brother 1-Harrison Barnett
Brother 2- Harvey Barnett (Birthday Boy) Both of the brothers will be dressed in shirts and jeans this is to show that they will go on to follow in there dads footsteps.
Sister- Rosie Barnett

postmodern media
postmodernist's claim that in a media saturated world, where we are immersed in media 24/7- the distinction between reality and the media representation of it becomes blurred or even unvisible to us.
we no longer have any sense of the difference between no longer real things and immages of them, or real experinses and simulations of them. media reality is the new reality.
in the new modern period artists experimented with the representation of reality. in the postmedern the idea of representation gets "remixed" played around with through pastiche, parody and intertextual references- where the people that make the texts deliterately expose their names as constructied texts and make no attempt to pretend they are "realist".
- valuce judgements are blurred everything is down to taste, anything can be, deserve and audience, and culture "eats itself". there is no longer anything new to produce or distribute.
- the disrinction between media and reality has callapsed, and we now live in a "reality" defineded by images and reprenations, images refer to each other and represented each other as reality than sime "pure" reality that exicts before the image represents it.

posters.
we have been doing some research into different types of posters for different ytpes of cameras. some of the posters are quite hard to find. we are going to get two cameras and take a picture of one of the camera and see what it looks like, as this is what we are going to be doing for one of our posters.

The Wave.
during one of our lesson, we where subjected to having strict class rules. the rules-
- one space apart.
- stand up to ask or answer
- students must answer
- stand up when asking another stundent.
we watched the film "Wave" in the lesson. the films is based on a true story, where the teacher tries to explain to his students the atmosphere in the 1930's Nazi-Germany ,the teacher initiates a daring experiment. He declares himself leader of a new movement, called 'The Wave'. Inspired, he proclaims ideas about Power, Discipline and Superiority. His students are strikingly willing to follow him. Soon the entire school is under the spell of 'The Wave'. Anyone who refuses to be a part of the Movement, faces threats or worse. the teacher himself gets carried away by his own experiment. Or has it turned into something more than an experiment? The teacher takes it too far and calls an assembly with all of the wave members, during the assembly he talks about how the wave will take over Germany, just as the Nazis did. When one of the students don’t agree with what is going on he is subject to being carried to the front of the assembly, the teacher decides his fate, only to say that what they are doing is wrong and it must stop. One by one the students realise what they have been doing for the past week and that it has gone too far. But one student doesn’t want the wave to end, pulling out a gun on the teacher and telling him to continue the wave otherwise he will shoot the teacher.

Problems faced over half term
Due to me being in centre parks throughout half term and my internet breaking down, there has been a distinct lack of blogging on my behalf, not only did i face the problem of my internet but we have had to postpone our filming til later next week due to the fact that one of the main characters (my little brother) has come down with chicken pox. However all of these problems will be resolved in due course.

this is our mini media project on web 2.0, web 2.0is about how you can now interact with the internet. there are a few different websites where you can do this. one of them i have used to create my own shoes, this website is nikeid.com you can chose different colours, styles and you can also put your name on the shoes etc and at the end you can buy them if you like them enough. you can also design differnt types of shoes and different items of clothing.

The music.
i have been looking for some theme music to put over the back of the advert. i have been looking on soundcloud both me and robyn have been looking but havent found anything that will go with our type of advert. we have looked at other viedos such as snow patrol's you could be happy music video and thought that the aminamtions go well with the type of music. we have also looked at the land rover advert that is in stop motion, the music that is played in the background is effective. we are hoping to find something that fits with type of feel that we are hoping to achive.

Male Gaze
We looked at the male gaze during 'theory tuesday' with Mr Smith it was actually really interesting and so very true in many ways!!
Basically the male gaze is the way men see women!
so its how men look at women, how women look at themselves and how women look at other women and this is shown throught the camera shots. the camera lingers on the curves of the female body and event which occurs to women are presented largely in the context of a man's reaction to these events.
Relegates woman to the status of objectives. the female viewer must experince the narrative secondarily, by undertification with the male.
To show how the male gaze worked, as a bit of an experiment we looked at the scouting for girls video-she's so lovely >>
After watching the video we were asked to answer the following:
what colour top where she and he wearing?
What number bowling lane where they using?
Wahat colour belt where she and he wearing?
What colour shoes where she and he wearing?
What colour eyes did she and he have?
The majority of the boys in the class wouldn't have been able to answer any of the questions as they would have just been focusing on the females assets where as the the majority of the girls in the class would have been able to answer the questions as they wouldn't have been focusing on the female assets. This is what the males gaze is about looking at the way in which men perseeve and look at women, so they wouldn't include a fat ugly women in the video because men wouldn't be interested.
Theorys:
Criticism of mulvey and gaze theory- Some women enjoy being looked at e.g beauty pageants!
The gaze can also be directed towards members of the smae gender for several reasons, not all of which are sexual, such as in comparison of body image or clothing.
Jonathoan Schroeder (1998)- To gaze implies more than to look at- it signifies a phsycological relationship of power, in which the gazer is superior to the object of the gaze.

soundcloud
i'm looking for backing track for our advert, we want something upbeat that will create the right atmosphere however i think i'm being very fussy as i haven't yet stumbled across anything i've liked its all the wrong kind of genre and i don't think it will give off the family vibe some how :(

Camera
Below is the digital camera in which we will be advertising, we've had to pixelate out the brand due to the fact we didn't design and manufacture the product. We managed to do this using a website called picnik.com the website has many features most of which are very similar to photoshop, however i feel that this programme is more user friendly and find it easier to work with :)
On our posters the pixelating will be something that will be easy to achieve however when filming it is something we will have to edit after and pixelate out to ensure the fact that you can't see the brand name, i know this is often done on television not for the reasons we are doing it but for example on big brother if housemates were wearing a nike jumper they would pixelate the nike logo out else this would be free advertisment for nike!!
Picnik.com
This is the webiste we chose to use to edit our camera, it simple and easy to use and not only does it allow you upload and edit photo's but if gives you the option to share on chat websites such as facebook and photobucket.
All we had to do was create an account with them upload a picture we had saved on our file and then we clicked on the option create were it allows you to add effeccts, text, stickers, touchup and frames! We chose effects which is where it gives you the option to focal pixelate and all you do is drag the wond over the selected area, save and or share. Done!!

postmodern media.
Postmodern media.
Post modernist’s claim that in a media saturated world, where we are immersed in media 24/7- the distinction between reality and the media representation of it becomes blurred or even invisible to us.
We no longer have any sense of the difference between no longer real things and images of them, or real experiences and simulations of them. Media reality is the new reality.
in the modern period the idea of representation gets "remixed" player around with thought pastiche, parody and interextual references- where the people that make texts deliberately expose their names as contract texts and make no attempt to pretend they are "realist".
- Value judgements are blurred everything is down to taste; anything can be art, desired, audience and culture "eats itself". There is no longer anything new to produce or distribute.
- The distinction between media and reality has collapsed, and we now live in a "reality" defined by images and representations, images refer to each other and represented each other as reality than some "pure" reality that exists before the image represents it.

Representation & Stereotypes
Without even relaising it we stereotype people everyday, to create the right atmospere in our final piece we will use stereotypes this is how people relate to a text.
Mediation- The way media represents an idea to us.
Stereotypes are how we overlook an idividual, and the way in which we place them in groups, however through the media qualities of a stereotype are often exagerated to make it more entertaining, this leads to a caricature.
During the lesson we looked at Tessa Perkins she had a number of assumptions about stereotypes they included the following:
- stereotypes are not always negative
- not always about minority groups or the less powerful
- they can be held about one's own group
- not rigid or unchanging
- not always false
we also looked at another theorist and his views
Leon Festinger- Theory of 'cognitive dissonance'
..Argued that we resist adjusting our attitudes unless faced with overwhelming evidence against it. He believed that we seek out confirmation of our thoughts/beliefs. This links with PLURATISM audiences.
The kind of stereotypes we are looking to use in our advert are a typical happy middle class family, nice house, mum dad brother sister dog!! We think this will give the feel that when buying the camera the lifestyle comes with it of the perfect family. We can relate to Tessa Perkins theory in the respect that stereotypes are not always negative as we are trying to portray the perfect family event!

Roland Barthes: Narrative codes
narrative codes, narrative codes can either be open or closed if they are open then they can end in lots of different ways if they are closed they can only end one way. Narrative codes are categorised in the five following ways:
Action code- is any action that implies a further action, for example in harry potter when harry pulls out his wand you know the next action will be him casting a spell.
Enigma code- refers to an elemnt in the text that is not explained raising questions that demand explination, for example in a murder mystery at the beggining of the scene there is a shot of someone dead, you then want to know who killed them and how.
Semantic code- element in a text that suggests a particular often additional meaning by way of connotation, for example in black beauty they show red roses, the deconnotation of this would be a flower, but the connotations of this is to show romance.
Cultural code- element in a text that relates to a particular audience about the way the world works, for example when a man in a red costume with white hair and beard appear in a film we instantly know its santa and we can relate to it as its part of our culture.
Symbolic code- This is the grey in between the two binary opposites, the part of the story in which we fill in. * look at binary opposites
Binary opposites- Levi Strauss believed that the world was slpit into a series of 'binary opposites.' Essentially one thing can only be defined in relation to something it isn't.
Ideology- Collection of ideas, comprehensive vision, way of looking at things, belief in which helps explain how the world goes round.
We will look at including some of the above in our advertisment to show our understanding of them.

We feel that the semantic code and the cultural code apply to our advert, the cultural aspect is the birthday party which is an event which everyone can relate to not only that but the idea of the family being bought together by the taking of a picture is something in which they may relate to as well. The semantic aspect for us i think that we're not just looking at the camera as a piece of technology you take pictures with we're looking at it as something to bring people together.

Adverts
For our research we looked at a number of adverts, we obviously 1st began looking at camera adverts looking at what ideas they had and how they were trying to sell the product, we then after this proceeded to look at adverts in general, one's that we liked and stuck out to us!
I love this camera advert purely to the fact that the man is represented as the camera and everyone is just randomly posing in front of him, i think this was quite a cool quirky advert though it didn't give me many ideas for our advert i did think it was a good idea and i liked the music that went with it, it gave it an upbeat feel!
I liked this camera advert because i think its something the audience can relate to as most people have been in the position where they trying to avoid the crowd to get a good picture, i think its really clever how tho boys lolly merges in to become a dress, this is similar to what i'd like us to do, so i'd like our advert to show a picture merging from camera to printer if that makes sense!
After doing a little research into camera adverts we just looked at adverts in general that inspired us or we liked, we also both like stop motion so looked at clips of that being used to look for some ideas.
This advert is so clever i'd love to be able to achieve something like this but i feel it would take ALOT of hard work and would be quite difficult and time consuming, however i do think its great advert and it has given me inspiration and maybe we could you use stop motion as a technique in our advert but in a much simpler form.
This was a different kind of stop motion which we looked at using animation and drawings i think this clip is really sweet whilst being clever at the same time however i prefer the land rover advert and i think if were to use stop motion in our advert it would be more appropriate to do it in the way that land rover advert has done it!
From looking and researching adverts it has given me a bit of an insight and more idea of what i'd like us to do and include in our advert, i've noticed that the camera adverts use happy upbeat songs which is a definitely a big aspect that i would like to include in our advert to create the right vibe!!

After loooking at a number of briefs and taking into account the skills me and sam had between us we decided to do an advertisment package for a new product or service whic included two advertisments and a TV programme sponsorship sequence together with a radio advertisement.
We brainstormed a few ideas of what we where going to advertise, we first came up with a clothing line but decided this may be difficult to come up with something orginal that hadn't already been done, we then cam up with an energy drink and thought that we could show the stages a man/women goes through when drinking the drink. All the ideas were very different none of them interlinking in any but eventually we came up with the idea to do an advert on a camera and a printer. We this could be quite fun as we could show an event happening for example a birthday or prom, then show like the best bits coming through the printer.
